How to Reach Us

We're at 1 Inventa Pl, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Call 13012972898 if a spring's gone, a panel's dented, or the opener won't answer the remote anymore.

Real shop, not mailbox

We don't run a call center that routes you three states away - the number rings here, and the address is a real shop, not a mailbox. If you're not sure whether what you're dealing with is worth a call, describe it when you phone.

Snapping spring hazard

A door that drops fast when the opener's disconnected usually means a broken or weakening spring, and that's not a wait-and-see problem - a spring under tension that lets go can take a finger or a windshield with it. A door that's just noisy on the way up is a different, cheaper conversation.

Local knowledge before arrival

We work from this location out into the surrounding neighborhoods, so when you call, you're talking to someone who already has a rough sense of what kind of door and hardware is probably behind your garage wall before the truck even leaves.

Service area

The Areas We Cover

Our base is Downtown Silver Spring, about a mile southwest of the shop address, and we run service out from there into Forest Glen and Takoma Park (both about 2 miles out), South Kensington, Kemp Mill, Adelphi, Chevy Chase, Chillum, Kensington, and White Oak (all roughly 3 miles), and further out to North Kensington, Wheaton, Hyattsville, Garrett Park, College Park, Colesville, Mount Rainier, Brentwood, Calverton, and more - out to about 7 or 8 miles in places like Greenbelt, Woodlawn, and Cheverly.

That's a wide mix of housing ages and styles across 81 named areas, which matters more than it sounds like it should. A door that's standard in one neighborhood can be an odd size or an obsolete track style three miles away. We don't treat the service area as one uniform job - we treat it as a lot of small, different ones.

Our services

The Work We Take On

Most of the housing stock in this area went up between 1948 and 2014, with a lot of it clustered in the 1960s and 70s and a median build year around 1976.

Original doors dominate calls

That means a good share of the doors we're called out to are original or close to it - older torsion and extension spring setups, steel sectional doors with hardware that's been painted over a dozen times, openers that were state of the art when they were installed decades ago.

Winter wear on parts

We work on broken springs, cables off the drum, bent tracks, openers that won't respond or won't reverse, worn rollers, and full door replacement when a repair isn't worth doing anymore. With winters here cold enough to stiffen grease and shrink metal tolerances, a lot of our calls are doors that worked fine in September and started binding or grinding once temperatures dropped.

Honest replacement threshold

One honest limit: if a door's track is bent badly enough, or the opener is old enough that parts simply aren't made for it anymore, we'll tell you replacement is the better money, not a repair that buys you a few more months before the next call.

Questions

Common questions

Do you serve my neighborhood if it's outside Silver Spring itself?

Likely yes. We run jobs out to about 7-8 miles from our base near Downtown Silver Spring, covering areas like Takoma Park, Wheaton, College Park, and Greenbelt among others. Call the number with your address and we'll tell you straight away whether it's in range.

Why does my garage door act up more in winter?

This area gets cold enough that grease stiffens and metal parts tighten up slightly, which is why doors that ran fine in warmer months start binding, grinding, or struggling to close fully once temperatures drop. It's a seasonal strain on hardware that was already due for attention.

My house is older - is that going to be a problem for parts?

A lot of homes around here were built in the 1960s and 70s, and some original doors and openers on that hardware are no longer made new. We carry what we can to retrofit older torsion and extension setups, but in some cases replacement is simpler and cheaper than sourcing obsolete parts.
